Thermoregulation is a dynamic process that involves behavioral and physiological adjustment in order to maintain body temperature. The rise in body temperature of ectothermic poikilotherm animals like crocodiles is achieved through external heat resources.
Did you know? Crocodiles spend much of their time basking on the land, facing towards the water so that they can slip into water when alarmed. Land basking, as seen in this photo, is mostly influenced by the (cooler) temperature of the water.
